Black Prince Winery is hosting the 5th annual Scenes of Sandbanks and beyond, original art show and sale, October 21st to November 6th.

This year’s show, located in the art cellar of the winery, will house over 4o local artists utilizing a wide variety of disciplines including;  fabric art, pottery, sculpture, photography, oil, watercolour, encaustic and acrylic paintings.

Visitors are invited to experience Scenes of Sandbanks and beyond in the relaxing ambiance of Black Prince Winery, renew memories of The County through the creative eye of our many talented local artists and enjoy delicious wine.

Proceeds from this year’s show will be directed thru Friends of Sandbanks and will go to a sign for Lakeshore Lodge.

Black Prince Winery is hosting the 1st annual Art on the Shelf, original art show and sale, May 6th to May 23rd with an opening reception on May 5th from 7pm – 9pm.

The premise of the show is to promote the symbiotic relationship between art and literature. The artists will be inspired by their favourite book.

This new show, located in the art cellar, will house almost 4o local artists utilizing a wide variety of disciplines including;  fabric art, pottery, sculpture, photography, oil, watercolour, encaustic and acrylic paintings.

Gerry Putman’s artwork, shown above, will be featured on a red wine that will be available for sale for a limited time. The released date for this wine is the end April .

Funds raised from this show will be directed thru the Friends of the Picton Library and will be used to further improve landscaping & provide a permanent sign at the front of the library.

It’s that time again to start thinking of dim lights, soft music and what to make for dinner to impress that special someone.

We did some research to make your job easier and found a perfect Aphrodisiac pairing; Shrimp Alfredo Pasta and Pinot Gris.

This romantic and seductive dinner for two will tantalize and tempt the senses, from the delectable creamy pasta to the velvety finish of the wine, this meal is sure to please.

Wine, the romantic beverage of choice, has been recognized for its ability to put people in the mood for love. There is nothing like a chilled glass of fine wine to soothe the soul and release inhibitions. Pinot Gris is the perfect pairing for shrimp Alfredo pasta. Dry, crisp, and with a subtle floral & fruity aroma, this light-bodied choice compliments and enhances the flavor, adding to the enjoyment and charm of your amorous meal for two.

Now imagine sitting with that special someone… the lights are dim, the meal smells divine and the wine; the perfect compliment where anything is possible.

 ”There are many ways to look at life. To me, colour is life. The paintings I create come from my heart. They are spontaneous, they just happen. I mainly work with acrylics, and usually end up adding collage elements to my work. I love texture! My inspiration are nature, shapes and colours. I am intrigued by the simplicity of things and I am mesmerized by the interaction of bright and friendly colours found in nature, which I try to integrate into my art work. My ultimate goal is to convey a positive message and to provide an oasis of peace of mind with my paintings – I want people to smile when they look at my art.” Martina Escudero-Wolf

Last fall, 5 adventurous souls from Engine Communications  in Belleville, challenged themselves to eat locally for five days. Highlights from their adventure were filmed  by  TVCOGECO  and will air November 11th at 8pm, viewing areas are listed here .

This adventurous group discovered some interesting things along the way and one of those was regarding beverages, although coffee is not grown within 100 miles,  grapes sure are and there is an abundance of local wine readily available  for consumption. 
 

During the fifth day of their challenge the group made their way over to Black Prince Winery for a tasting,  it was the harvest season and we thought it would be fun to challenge them to a little crush off.  Lined up in the plant they were given 2 minutes to crush as much juice out of a bucket of grapes as they could using only their hands.  A good time was had by all and the winner of the challenge was Shaun. Congratulations, Shaun and thanks to all for being wonderful sports!

Aidan Haley’s piece “October-Harwood Bush”, shown above,  painted at Beaver Meadow Conservation Area,  depicts the colourful spectacle that blesses The County each fall.

“October-Harwood Bush” is just one of the many glorious scenes that will  be on display at this year’s show.

 This piece will be featured on a Cabernet Franc red wine that will be available for sale for a limited time. The released date for this wine September 24^{th .}
