Vineyard Report…

August 20, 2010Marchel Foch

Planted on a fertile, sandy, loam ridge on our 50 acres property sits 10 acres of grapes that span behind the property on the Loyalist Parkway to the adjacent road, Talbot Street in the lovely town of Picton in beautiful Prince Edward County.

Our Vineyard Manager, Pat Del-Gatto of Del-Gatto Estates Winery is pleased to report that the vineyard is in full veraison (where the red or rose grape varieties have turned colour). The hot, dry weather this summer has sustained an excellent crop this year and harvesting will most likely begin around mid September, approximately 2 weeks earlier than previous years.  The first to be picked will be the Marchel Foch which was at almost 20 brix last week.  For more on our grapes … (go to our wine page)
